On the far north extreme of the Riviera Maya is Cancun. To the south is the metropolitan community of Playa del Carmen, and another 40 kilometers is located Tulum. People will find shopping centers thirty minutes away in Playa del Carmen. A new shopping center has recently opened its doors and there exist two 10 hall movie theaters and another on the planning table. People arrive to live in Tulum from all regions of the world. Life on the Tulum beaches are relaxing, yet can be quite exhilarating. The Tulum Hotel Zone is comprised of approximately 50 small ecological hotels that are scattered along the beach side road leading towards the Sian Kaan reserve. Beach clubs, jazz music, and bohemian restaurants give the visitor or the person living in the Tulum community many options for evening entertainment and dining.
Sports and eco activities range from surfing, snorkeling, and jogging along the beaches. Biking can be exercised on paths that lead through the jungles and yoga is becoming a new sport being exercised deep in the jungles and on the waterfronts.
Being in the Yucatan Pensinsula, there are many Mayan archeological sites within a short drive. For those who enjoy studying, reading, and discovering the history of a land, Yucatan will be very enjoyable living experience.
