The beaches in Tulum are the main attraction for people who come to visit and to retire. Within the 5,280 km2 biosphere reserve biking and hiking along the beach road can be enjoyed where the road leads to an old Mayan fishing village known today as Punta Allen.
TULUM INFRASTRUCTURE
Tulum is located on the southern half of a 100 kilometer stretch of Mexican Caribbean oceanfront called the Riviera Maya. Tulum has become more and more popular as a retirement destination because of existing and high investments and developments of it’s infrastructure. The Federal, State, local governments and private entities have been investing into the development for conservation of the entire zone. The term development for conservation outlines the importance the government has placed upon protecting the environment in midst of the boom being witnessed in this region of Mexico.

These are two main reasons why in the past few years a double lane highway has been extended from Playa del Carmen down the corridor towards Tulum. Also in the process of construction are two new bridges along this corridor to enhance and prepare for the increase in projected traffic. The Tulum area is also preparing for the introduction of a new international airport to be constructed on the outskirts of this city.
RETIREMENT ACTIVITIES IN TULUM
The region of Riviera Maya is becoming known as the Golf capital of Latin America. This title is being marketed due to the quantity of new golf courses being introduced to the region. Nearly 8 new golf courses along the corridor have been introduced including the Chameleon Golf Course which is host to the first PGA tournament ever held in Latin America. Deep sea fishing can be enjoyed from the nearby Marina called Puerto Aventuras. If you want to visit and learn more of the Mayan culture, there are nearly 80 ruin sites throughout the Yucatan Peninsula including the new world acclaimed wonder of the world, Chichen Itza. Museums, guides and experts are located throughout the region for further studying and knowledge gathering for the history buffs.
